With undoubtedly the best climate in Europe and a low cost of living, Costa Del Sol lies within Andalucia on the southern Mediterranean coast between Nerja and Gibraltar.

It is home to one of the best-known Spanish locations, Marbella. The area between Marbella and Estepona is considered by some to be one of the very best locations for purchasing property in the world. In fact the stretch of the coastline is frequented by many of the rich and famous, including well-known celebrities, and the price of villas here can run to millions of Pounds, but is also accessible to many with a budget considerably less than that.

This is a very mature real estate market and there are not many new property developments taking place at the moment in Marbella. As a result the chances are that property in Marbella offered for sale are resales, and this has helped to establish a healthy market with increasing property values and with the new developments that are built being highly sought after due to having excellent investment potential. Because there is a large international community, mainly British, excellent facilities have been developed to service their leisure and social needs.

Along this 50-mile stretch of coast there are now over 30 quality golf courses including Valderarama at Sotogrande where the 1996 Ryder Cup was held.

There are also several international schools, and the nightlife (particularly around Marbella) is extensive, including some of the finest restaurants in the world as well as very reasonably priced local and international cuisine.

The central Costa del sol has developed rapidly over the last 5 years and the surge in demand has made the west side more attractive, being cheaper and less crowded. The new costal highway between Estepona and Sotogrande will make the west side even more accessible and increase options for purchases.
